DSURF Team Rider Eli Mirandon March 20, 2007

Eli just got back from a R&D trip to Melanesia where he scored some great surf abord the Exocoetus with Capt Andrew Rigby. Eli sent the photo along with a recap of the trip.
our exporation of melanesia was quite a success! thanks to everyone for the support. shane peel, the photographer and videographer was really stoked on the photos and footage and our many waves we stumbled upon.
we set off from papua new guinea and toured many islands aboard the exocoetus with our captain andrew "undies" rigby and his wife jude. as well as peely, dean brady, and andrew mooney, both aussie surfers. the boat was perfectly suited with our own air conditioned cabin, a covered area for our boards and a big panga with strong motors. we covered heaps of area in the panga exploring for breaks while the "exo" sat in some perfectly still anchorages with stunning views and great fishing. jude took care of everything onboard from cooking to organizing everything everyday so when we were done surfing we were resting well and eating well and ready to go at it another day.
the trip was truly amazing ... we surfed heaps of new waves and marked tons of spots that would be on a different swell direction or wind or too big or too small. a lot of " what if" spots out there to go back for more. the water was super warm and the air temp was nice. our trip had two nice north swells and we scored a couple new breaks and one previously surfed. the islands we visited were unreal.... children who had never seen white people lined up to touch you and shake your hand and when we surfed the locals would slowly come to the beach until there were 20 -50 people cheering and screaming hysterically on the shore. they were all so happy and amazed at what we were doing, surfing waves. it was really cool to see that and experience it first hand.
overall the trip was a huge success and was more fun than i could have imagined.everyone was ripping and peely got the job done. a truly unique experience in a land of welcoming people... what more could you ask for ... once again thanks to all involved ... talk to you all soon ...eli
