Humping Toads April 27, 2007

Apparently all that good south swell down in Costa Rica got the locals feeling all frisky.

Beware of the Landlord April 26, 2007

Hopefully his friends don't come by to collect the rent when you are in the lineup.
I can only imagine the story these fisherman have to tell.

The shortfin mako typically stays in deeper water.

San Dieguito Alumni Contest April 25, 2007

Only from a high school in California do you have an alumni surf contest every year. This contest has been growing in popularity with every year promising to be bigger and better. This year was no exception. The event was organized by Olly Norris and Jeremy Sherwin to help raise money for the San Dieguito Surf Team.
The beach scene looked more like a WCT or WQS event than a high school alumni contest.

The scene in the water was some top notch surfing with the likes of Chris Cote getting fully barreled and then busting an air reverse in the semis.

The format called for tag team heats which kept the action rolling.

Colin Smith here laying it down for Team DSURF in his first heat.

Andrew Logreco decided to cruise down to the beach and help his team take 3rd in the event.

There were alums from the class of '74 through last years graduates representing at D Street.

Team DSURF: JP St. Pierre, Aaron Smith, Dustin Smith and Colin Smith.

The awards party was held at Today's Pizza in Encinitas who donated all of their profits from the evening to the school.

Team Cote took home the bragging rights this year.

All in the family: Yvonne, JP, Aaron, Katherine, and Dustin celebrating the day.
Team DSURF finished 4th overall and Dustin took home an award for best 80's style.

DSURF Team Rider Daniel Jones April 24, 2007

Daniel,DJ, or Mikala's younger brother is who he is known as, but watch out, this up and coming ripper is sure to ruffle some feathers in the years to come. Daniel is in town for the WQS event at Lower Trestles.
He stopped by the warehouse to pick up a custom coffin we built for him. This kid is as nice as they come and always has a smile on his face.

Check him out on Transworld's Checkouts

Here he is charging Sunset at home in Hawaii

Best South Swell in Years April 18, 2007

Like we need anymore evidence that the surf was going off last week.
While SoCal got windy during the days, it was sheet glass south of the border.
Back stateside, all of the San Diego prima donna's complained about the conditions and stayed out of the water, even though it was offshore every morning until about 8:30am.
We cracked it every morning from 6 to 8:30 before the wind came up and scored numerous barrels in North County.
Everywhere was pretty much going off. Where did you catch the best south swell in years? Or are you one of the pre-Madonna's who just complained about the wind?

Dusty Trails April 16, 2007

Pack it up and tie it in cause the ride down south is quite bumpy.

Product testing with the new DSURF tailgate rack.

Dusty trails lead to good surf

When you are sure to pack your boards in the right kind of bag, you will score good surf when you get there.

DSURF Team Rider Jamie Sterling April 13, 2007

Jamie Sterling, Sterls, is always charging whether he is surfing Pipe with the Pipeline Posse, towing into mega Puerto or scoring huge swell in Northern Chile. Check out his website where you can follow his travels chasing huge surf around the globe.
Sterls dropped by to pick up a new coffin and place an order for 2 new custom coffins that can hold 7-8 boards.

Did I mention the guy has balls the size of coconuts.

He just got back from a trip to Ireland where the surf didn't quite come together but the Guinness flowed freely.

Building Swell April 12, 2007

And I thought Tuesday was going mental, well here are some more shots from just up the road of the biggest South Swell we have had in quite a while. With reports coming in from Lowers and Cottons as triple overhead, these photos seem to validate. Here is Big Corona and Newport Harbour off the chain.
Time to wax up the step up

Any takers?....didn't think so

Combo Swell April 11, 2007

The west coast is enjoying a nice run of combo swell right now. South and north swell spots are lit up from Baja Sur all the way up into Canada. Here are some photos of Newport Beach going mental.

2 Months till Hurricane Season April 5, 2007

Water is warming up all over as we approach summer. This means Hurricane Season is not far off. Here are a couple shots from the East Coast during last year's Hurricane Season.

A place called the Washout doing its thing.

Although its raining, still got chicks in bikinis watching. All hail the bikini season!
