Aamion Goodwin - Waterman June 28, 2007

Aamion spends a lot of time in the water. Whether he is surfing or spearfishing you can find him in the salt water.

Aamion, styles through another cutback.

Keeping it in the Family June 27, 2007

DSURF is a family owned and run company. We don't have the big corporate dollars backing us like all the other accessory companies but that is how we like it. We don't spend tons of money on advertising, we simply focus on producing high quality, durable products.
Our strong family ties made it an easy decision for us when Mikala asked if we would sponsor his little brother, Daniel. Here are a few photos the Jones brothers sent us from their summer home in Bali.

Mikala and Daniel smiling bright and enjoying life.

Mikala is a great surfer but first and foremost he is a great father.

Puerto Escondido June 26, 2007

Summertime and south swells, the place to be is mainland Mexico. We haven't had anything major come through this year, except for that April swell, but Puerto is always producing fun barrels from whatever the southern ocean can produce. The ocean is a mile and a half deep just off the beach, which leads to jacking peaks over a hard sand bottom. Here are some shots of Jamie Sterling getting pitted.

Through the Years June 22, 2007

From left to right, the first thruster bag ever made at DSURF to our newest addition to the shortboard line, DSURF has got you covered with the most durable board bags on the market.

All the boys lined up, ready for duty.

One of the first bags ever made at DSURF, recently uncovered under the home of Aaron's brother-in-law, JP St Pierre.

The original day bag.

The single travel bag, when you need a little more padding for that "magic" board or have some air travel plans with your girl and are only taking one board, because " I promise this is not a surf trip, honey"

The standard reflective day bag, a proven protector.

Our latest addition to the line, the Epoxy Series Day Bag.

Team Rider Travels - Will Tant June 20, 2007

Team Rider Travels - Jamie Sterling

Will is a unique pro surfer. Most guys surf competitions or they simply go on surf trips and get heavy mag exposure. Will falls into the later category but he usually ties his surf trips in with a mission trip. He went on the Wave of Compassion boat trip (be sure to check out the second video clip of the trip on Surfline), and more recently he traveled to La Chureca, Nicaragua at the edge of Lake Nicaragua. Check out the interview with Will about the trip. They were there to help out the locals living off this dump and hopefully score some surf. Check out these photos of the adverse living conditions.

One man's trash is another man's treasure

Most recently he stole away for a short trip down to Mainland Mexico where he did a little mission work on himself inside the barrel of a flawless beach break.

New Product - Epoxy Series Daybags June 19, 2007

New Product - Rubber Rails
New Product - DSURF Traction

We are always working on new products here at DSURF, trying to stay ahead of this ever progressive industry. With the closure of Clark Foam, shapers have been forced to try new blanks and new methods of glassing boards. The epoxy blank is one of these new ideas and the heat can really affect the life of an epoxy board, so we came up with the epoxy series day bag. All white with grey trim to keep the heat buildup to a minimum.

In shortboard sizes

and longboard sizes.
Same price as the normal day bag.
These bags are not even on our website yet so please call to place an order.

Hurricane Season June 15, 2007

Hurricane season just started and the East Coast already got some fun surf out of Tropical Storm Barry. Here is a nice sequence of DSURF Team Rider Raven Lundy getting barreled in VA Beach. Be sure to check out the story and photos on Surfline.

The low tide and pushing swell will eventually leave its mark. Raven, looking like he just bounced off the reef, not the hard sand bottom of VA Beach.

Papua New Guinea

Here are some photos from Larus Shields on his recent trip to Papua New Guinea. He was off some islands in the northeast of the country at Nusa Island Retreat. The accommodations were great and the surf even better.

The fleet of boats waiting to ferry surfers out to the numerous breaks.

Not a breath of wind and what amazing scenery.

Wyatt is one of our younger team riders. He travels a lot and surfs hard. Here are a few shots from a recent trip to Australia with some of his friends. He competed in the Maitland Toyota Open WQS event where he threatened to dethrone some of the top surfers in the event.

A little shack time down under.

That's a gnarly looking jelly fish.

As soon as he got back from Australia, Wyatt headed down to Puerto Escondido for more time in the "green room"

First Kill of the Season

We saw a few white sea bass but no one got close enough and then a school of nice size yellows came through and Josh Tudor drew first blood of the season with this one.
Josh's camo suit allows him to get close to fish while blending in with the surrounding kelp.

Best Swell in a Decade June 1, 2007

All this hype on the internet about Indo getting the best swell in a decade, you have to start wondering if it is true. Well, we were there and now are here to tell you it was going off! On the way there, we were amping so hard we drank until we passed out, just check the comments on our departure post. The swell was so big we spent the majority of the time surfing spots that don't ever break and are nameless. We didn't travel with our 7'+ guns so we left the triple overhead outer reefs to themselves and ran around the corner to surf solid double overhead draining barrels. Here are some photos of what we are calling our best boat trip ever.

Can't beat sunrise on a boat before a hardy breakfast of big blue reef drainers.

Remnants of a sinking island, evidence of the earthquake or natural processes?

The smallest day of the trip

The DSURF Crew, Phil Carrey, Justin Marlett, Aaron Smith, Michael Burns, Dave Burns, Bob Burns. Buster - the dog, Capt. Steve, and deckhand Lubis.

Any takers? This place never breaks according to the Capt but brought us 100 yard left hand barrels.
