Catalina Yellowtail July 25, 2007

Michael Burns, DSURF and Oneill rep for San Diego County, went fishing with his family off Catalina and caught some nice yellowtail. Here is what he had to say about the trip:

Greetings All

Austin (14) caught his first yellowtail weighed in at 33 pounds he could not lift the tail off the deck.
Then Nancy hooked up minutes later and landed her first it hit the scale at 23 pounds.
Great day fishing!

Cheers Proud Hubby/Father

Chris is one of our newer members of the team and we are super stoked to have him. With his green tendency's, he is pushing DSURF in the environmentally minded direction. Since he has been riding for us we have started recycling all of our cardboard and are working on recycling excess plastic materials. Chris and DSURF's newest adventure is to develop the ECO-PAD, a traction pad made from scraps of EVA foam.

This past winter Chris was a part of the California Book Project, be sure to check it out. Here are a few shots of Chris doing what he does best.

Nate is a super humble Central California guy that rips. He recently got back from a trip to Indo where he put the new traction to a serious test. Here is what he had to say about the traction:

yo Aaron hows it going i am home from indo. we had a good trip, we
scored for the first half of the trip. then the last couple of days
had alot of weather. but we did get good photos and footage.
i was writing because i wanted to say that the pads worked insane.the
new kick is good, your foot locks in. and the new material and how
thin it is i could not ask for more. it is seriously the best pad i
have ever used, and i am not just saying that.

thank you.

Team Rider Travels - Jeremy Sherwin July 12, 2007

Team Rider Travels - Jamie Sterling

Jeremy Sherwin is one of our local team representatives who is coach of the San Dieguito Surf Team. He recently coached the Team to win the National Championship Title in the NSSA High School division. DSURF sends out a big congratulations to the SDST and Coach's Sherwin and Norris.
After coaching the team to victory, Jeremy stole away on a trip to Tasmania to surf numerous spots as well as Shipstern's Bluff. Jeremy writes:

Tasmania is a beautiful place. Situated in the lower 40's, it can get colder than a witches tit in the winter, hence our trip launched in March of this year. The crew consisted of two Hawaiians, Jason Shibata, and Nathan Carroll, the SURFING mag Google Earth winner Christophe and renowned surf photographer Sean Davey. Davey makes this trip to his home of Tasmania once a year to bask in the beauty of fall. We found warm sun, and empty beach breaks with breath taking backdrop's in abundance. Lucky for us we had Sean as his experience surfing all the spots really helped us to score the best spots. Its not a sort of place you can just show up and score as the island is conditionally very temperamental. That meant we were constantly checking the surf and wind reports and literally driving on mountainous, one-lane highways for hours to get good surf. We drove, we laughed, and we surfed uncrowded waves, it was a sick trip.
The trip culminated on the last day when we took a boat out to Shipsterns Bluff and scored some fun waves with a crew of the coolest locals I've ever encountered in my travels around the world. We all shared some glorious tubes and long hold downs. I hope the Ozone Layer regrows over that part of the globe as it's a gem amongst itself... See the full story in this issue of SURFING magazine (September 2007) and stay posted on their website for the images of our Shipsterns session. www.surfingthemag.com
