Aamion Goodwin Injured at Pipe

D-Surf ream rider Amamion Goodwin was injured at Pipe this weekend. Story on Surfermag.com,

Aamion stroked into a set wav and stalled, setting up for the barrel section. Just then another surfer, Cody Graham, dropped in late in front of him. It was uncertain whether it was the impact of Cody or the impact of the thick lip that landed on his leg, but Aamion came to the surface visually cringing in pain. Aamion's wife Daize ran down the beach, their young son in tow, to help him out of the water.

By the time Aamion reached the beach, his knee was badly swollen. An ambulance was called. No broken bones but he sustained substantial ligament and muscle injuries. It may take months of rest and physical therapy for Aamion to get back into form.

Surfline has video of the Aamion's wave here (#19).

Airline Surfboard Bag Fees

Air travel isn't what it used to be.

Steep surfboard fees are sucking the fun out of exotic surf travel.

Will your surfboards cost as much as your plane ticket?

Surfline.com has a good roundup of airlines and the fees they charge for boardbags, click here.

Delta Airlines charges an incredible $300 per board each way for international flights. A roundtrip with 3 boards would cost $1800! We suggest you avoid Delta.

On www.flyingfees.com you can calculate your baggage fees.

Many airlines now have weight limits on baggage. Before you book your next surf trip make sure you inquire about surfboard fees and weight limits. The cheapest fare you find online might end up costing you more when you shop up at the terminal with all your gear.

Online petition to all airlines protesting unfair baggage fees towards surfers, www.surfers-against-airline-fees.com.

The following airlines still do not charge for surfboard bags: Qantas, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, South African Airlines, Air Tahiti Nui, Royal Air Maroc, Sri Lankan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Emirates and Virgin Atlantic.
